The Smelt Bay campground on Cortes Island was built over 60 years ago. Over time it had become muddy, overgrown, and unwelcoming.
We were awarded the contract by BC Parks to rebuild it. We carefully removed 70 overhanging trees and removed all the years of built up mud and detritus.
The campground was then completely rebuilt with all new tent areas and RV spots, new furniture and accessory buildings, improved drainage, and fresh gravel. In the spring we returned with a landscaping team to build and plant beds with native plants that have thrived and become lush.
